Novel - “Finders Keepers” by Emily Rodda

This children’s novel is part of an addictive series written by the award winning Australian author, Emily Rodda. This novel chosen is called Finders Keepers and was published in 2009. This novel is about a boy named Patrick who is prompted by a message in a computer store to watch a TV program on a channel that doesn’t exist. When the time comes, he changes to the channel and gets transported to an alternate time stream where he must participate in a game show in order to get home. Emily Rodda follows a generic narrative structure where she provides the reader with the orientation, complication, climax and the resolution. Throughout the novel, Emily Rodda uses dialogue and action verbs to describe her characters and scenes within the fantasy worlds.
