A classic song turns into a book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen & Helen Oxenbury, that tells the story of a family going on the hunt of a bear. The family faces obstacles such as passing through the grass, the river, the mud in search of the bear on the other side of the dark forest. What I love about this entire book is that the pictures in the book alternate from colour spread to a black-and-white spread until the climax and also readers are able to use sound effects and expression to this book.
Since the story is full of repetition, “We're going on a bear hunt. We're going to catch a big one. What a beautiful day! We're not scared” it makes it easy for young readers to read. The repetition has a melody element which is catchy and engaging. The book can be used in a literacy lessons as it plays with the use of descriptive words and prepositions which are useful in literacy lesson in developing sentences.
A great book to read for all ages.
