The book Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, is about a boy name Max who misbehaves and is sent to his room by his mother, without his supper. Max is alone in his room, and his imagination takes him faraway to a land where wild things live. The land of where the wild things are, are filled with large, strange-looking creatures which are tamed by Max and he becomes King of this land. Eventually he grows tired of being in the land of the wild things and longs to return home. The end of the story finds Max back in his own bedroom.
A few years ago this popular children’s book was turned into a film. When one has engaged in both texts (read the book and watch the film), one can distinguish the differences between the digital text and the printed text. I would highly recommend the printed text as it allows readers to link the text and illustrations together to create a deeper meaning of the story. Readers are able to use their imagination more in the printed text based upon the language the author uses in the book.
