Written by football legend Gary Lyon and author Felice Arena, 'Specky Magee, Ready To Make His Mark' is a part of a series of novels based upon a 12 year old boy’s journey in discovering his ambitions for life and football. Throughout 'Ready to Make His Mark' the authors describe Specky (the boy) as a budding young footballer, who has dreams of one day playing AFL football. However Specky’s parents don’t share the same ambitions for his career choice, which leads him on a journey to discover why his parents want to deny him of the right to play football.
Overall this book is a short, yet enjoyable read. The Specky Magee series of novels can also easily be integrated into the primary younger years. Particularly in the field of boy’s education, as boys who may not have a passion for reading, yet have a passion for sport, should become engaged.
